GEORGE BEST A LEGEND IN WORLD FOOT BALL

Wikipedia and dar timez

George Best (22 May 1946 – 25 November 2005) was a Northern Irish professional footballer who played as a winger for Manchester United and the Northern Ireland national team. In 1968 he won theEuropean Cup with Manchester United, and was named the European Footballer of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year. The Irish Football Association described him as the "greatest player to ever pull on the green shirt of Northern Ireland".[1]
Born and brought up in Belfast, Best began his club career in England with Manchester United, with the scout who had spotted his talent at the age of 15 sending a telegram to manager Matt Busby which read: "I think I've found you a genius."[2] After making his debut for United aged 17, he scored 179 goals from 470 appearances over 11 years, and was the club's top goalscorer in the league for five consecutive seasons.[3]
One of the greatest dribblers of all time, his playing style combined pace, skill, balance, feints, two-footedness, goalscoring and the ability to beat defenders.[4][5][6] Best unexpectedly quit United in 1974 at age 27, but returned to football for a number of clubs around the world in short spells, until retiring in 1984, age 37. In international football, he was capped 37 times and scored nine goals between 1964 and 1977, although a combination of the team's performance and his lack of fitness in 1982 meant that he never played in the finals of a European Championship or World Cup.
Best was one of the first celebrity footballers, earning the nickname "El Beatle" in 1966,[7] but his subsequent extravagant lifestyle led to various problems, most notably alcoholism, which he suffered from for the rest of his life. These issues affected him on and off the field, at times causing controversy.[8] He said of his career: "I spent a lot of money on booze, birds [women] and fast cars – the rest I just squandered".[9] After football he spent some time as a football analyst, but his financial and health problems continued into his retirement.[8]He died in 2005, age 59, due to complications from theimmunosuppressive drugs he needed to take after a liver transplant in 2002.[10] Best was married twice, to two former models, Angie Best and then Alex Best. His son Calum Best was born in 1981 from his first marriage.
Before he died, Best was voted 8th in the World Soccer 100 greatest football players of the 20th century election in 1999 and was voted 16th in the IFFHS World Player of the Century election in 1999. He was one of the inaugural 22 inductees into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2002. In 2004 he was voted 19th in the public UEFA Golden Jubilee Poll and was named in the FIFA 100 list of the world's greatest living players. Former Brazilian footballer Pelé stated, “George Best was the greatest player in the world". Best was once quoted as saying, “Pelé called me the greatest footballer in the world. That is the ultimate salute to my life.”[11] After his death, on what would have been his 60th birthday, Belfast City Airport was renamed the George Best Belfast City Airport. According to the BBC, Best was remembered by mourners at his public funeral held in Belfast as "the beautiful boy" [with a] "beautiful game".[12]

FKT AND SCEA RELATIONS ON YOUTH SOCCER
           With SCEA MEMBERS
The President Football federation of Kenya (FKF) Nick Mwenda launched in Kisii, Kenya, competitions pertaining under 13 and 15 and this was the first time to be seen inside the region.
During, the launch, Sports club of East Africa (SCEA), upcoming and energizing, was at the arena of its start, inotherwards, it was at the grass root of Inspiring African Youths on improving soccer around the region.
Mr. Kenneth Wandera a coach at SCEA, told the DAR-times blog editorial based in Dar es Salaam, that if youths are to join hands in improving the game, then East Africa will be at a verge of increasing talents for the future.
Young players’ skills development in relation to age VS a competitive philosophy of winning at all costs, which one will hold precedence?.
The most important issue for the under 13 and 15’s league is to focus on making youngsters acquire the required soccer skills at tender ages? Winning at all costs is counterproductive for players younger than 12 years. A technically more gifted player of let’s say 11 or 12 years can compete favorably in the under 13 league if an AGE APPROPRIATE PHILOSOPHY is adapted and followed to the core.
A national developmental league run under the FKF is expected to regulate the league well and focus on youngsters’ skill development under AGE APPROPRIATE COMPETTION.
The developmental league can hopefully result into the creation of national centers of soccer excellence. Through the monitored and vigilant transitions from under 13- 15-17 to under 19, youngsters can be sieved through to tap the most talented to represent Harambee Stars.
Creating centers of excellence however, shall not be made possible by the recently launched under 13 and 15’s league but through FKF monitoring and fostering operations at respective developmental soccer clubs. This could possibly be achieved by reminding all clubs to have full time coaches and administrators running club specific youth soccer development programs/ curricular focusing on the most talented youngsters. Continuously monitoring club and players’ progress will produce tangible results.
The developmental league will avail a closely scrutinized and monitored platform for youngsters to exhibit their talents. At this level, the most talented players will be visible to all and could attract several leads for future prospects. This drives players to work more on their game. With such a pathway of national level magnitude through branches, there is no guarantee but hypothetically the country can tap the best players to represent its youth football at a professional level and the senior side.

In addition to acting as a motivator to respective club’s youngsters playing in the under 6 to under 12, the youth league is being used as transition to full professional football (Harambee Stars) in view of Qatar 2022 qualification, develop technical soccer skills excellence ). Nick and comrades- that’s the right way to go. May be now is the time to think about the league’s marketing, promotion and substantive benefit for the kids.

WILL THEY FULFILL THIS DRAFT?

POLITICS HOT IN USA PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGNS
  with Dar-times news

The Democratic Party released a draft version of its proposed party platform late Friday afternoon. The platform won't be finalized until the Platform Committee meets in a week, followed by a vote at the party's convention in Philadelphia, but it's a good guidepost for what will make it into the final version. The proposal includes a host of liberal policy ideas, including raising the minimum wage to $15 nationwide; opposing an increase in the retirement age and cuts to Social Security; taxing top earners more to pay into the Social Security trust fund; securing equal pay for women and 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave for all workers; and abolishing the death penalty.

Forty years later the Entebbe operation still reads like a scene from a Hollywood movie. Indeed, movies have been shot and books written on the heroic exploits of the Israeli commandoes.

UGANDAN TROOPS IN SOMALIA TO WITH DRAW

SOMALIA: UGANDA PLANS TO WITHDRAW TROOPS FROM SOMALIA

With Gerald Lumanyika, Dar-times.

military chief says the country plans to withdraw its troops from Somalia by December 2017.
Gen. Katumba Wamala told The Associated Press Friday that the Ugandan government believes it has achieved its goal of helping to stabilize Somalia.
Wamala said the decision to withdraw is also fueled by frustration with international partners, including the U.S. and the E.U., that he accused of not doing enough to train the Somali military.
More than 6,000 Ugandans are deployed in Somalia under an African Union mission that protects the Somali government from the Islamic extremist group al-Shabab, which opposes the presence of foreign troops in Somalia.
Although al-Shabab was ousted from the Somali capital Mogadishu in 2011, it continues to wage a deadly guerrilla campaign that includes suicide bombings.

COMEDIAN DIES AT 52

                   CAROLINE AHERNE IS DEAD

Caroline Aherne

Comedy writer and actress Caroline Aherne has died at the age of 52.
Aherne, star and writer of The Royle Family and The Mrs Merton Show, had suffered from cancer, her publicist said.
The actress said two years ago that she had been diagnosed with lung cancer, having previously had bladder and eye cancer.
Aherne was also the narrator of Gogglebox and appeared in The Fast Show.
Her publicist Neil Reading said on Saturday: "Caroline Aherne has sadly passed away, after a brave battle with cancer.
"The Bafta award-winning writer and comedy actor died earlier today at her home in Timperley, Greater Manchester. She was 52.
"The family ask for privacy at this very sad time."

'True comedy genius'

Aherne had spoken of her diagnosis with cancer while addressing an appeal to approve cancer care in Manchester in 2014, saying: "I've had cancer and my brother's had cancer and we know how it affects people."
She said she and her brother had been born with cancer of the retina, adding: "My mum told us that only special people get cancer. I must be very special because I've had it in my lungs and my bladder as well."
Aherne's co-stars and fellow comics have been paying tribute to her.
Sue Johnston, who played Barbara - the mother of Aherne's character Denise - in The Royle Family, said: "I am devastated at her passing and I am numb with grief."
Ralf Little, Denise's brother Antony in the show, said Aherne was "a sister, real and (for me) fake", as well as a genius and a friend with a "big, big heart".
The Fast Show co-star Arabella Weir told the BBC Aherne was "an absolute genius" and that "everything she said was funny".
She said: "She was one of those people who was - without being attention seeking - always, always funny, even when you weren't filming.
"Everything she said was just killingly funny. She was just a great and she was a gentle, kind, easygoing person. She was great to work with. She never made a fuss. She was just a real laugh to be around."
Broadcaster Terry Christian, who had also worked alongside Aherne, said: "What it was with Caroline was she was genuinely one of the funniest people just in the pub.
"A lot of comedians aren't. You know they go away, write it all down and you know in real life there's nothing.
"Whereas with Caroline, she was so naturally sharp and witty and that's why everything she did had that risk factor in. You know if you look at the Mrs Merton Show, none of it was set up. Not a single question with the audience was set up.
